US Marine recognized as sufferer of surveillance flight that crashed in Philippines

The Marine who died alongside three protection contractors final Thursday when their surveillance flight crashed in the Philippines has been recognized as Sgt. Jacob M. Durham, in keeping with officers.

Final week, a Division of Protection-contracted plane went down within the southern province of Maguindanao del Sur whereas “offering intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance help on the request of our Philippine allies,” in keeping with the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command.

There have been no survivors, officers stated, who added that there have been 4 personnel on the aircraft, together with a U.S. navy service member.

On Sunday, U.S. Indo-Pacific Command recognized Durham because the Marine on the aircraft. The three contractors haven’t been recognized.

In a press launch, Indo-Pacific Command stated Durham joined the Marine Corps in January 2021 and had simply been promoted to his present rank on Feb. 1.

“We mourn the lack of Sgt. Jacob Durham, who made the final word sacrifice for our nation,” stated Lt. Col. Mabel B. Annunziata, commanding officer of 1st Radio Battalion. “Sgt. Durham embodied the best traditions of the Marine Corps – exemplifying composure, intelligence, and selfless management. He was deeply revered and beloved by his fellow Marines. Our ideas and prayers are along with his household, mates, and his fellow Marines throughout this profoundly tough time.”

The plane concerned within the crash was a Marine Corps Beechcraft King Air 350, a senior U.S. protection official informed Fox Information.

Army officers say the aircraft crashed throughout a routine mission in help of U.S.-Philippine safety cooperation actions.

Officers added that the plane was offering surveillance, intelligence and reconnaissance help for the ally nation.
